The Day I Met My Mentor Robin Sharma

They say that it’s the possibility of a dream coming true is what makes life absolutely fascinating – it truly is.

I have been religiously following Robin Sharma’s work for years, I have read most of his books, watched thousands of hours of his recorded training sessions and follow all his social media updates on a daily basis.

For me his work has been a guiding lighthouse through many of life’s challenges, it gives me hope. His character exudes an exemplary model of the type of human being I aspire to be, regardless of what life presents me with. It’s his teachings like “hard is what makes you stronger” that have inspired me to look at my own life’s struggles as blessings in disguise. Without my struggles and hardships I would not be where I’m today, brave enough to face my fears and work relentlessly on becoming a better version of myself every single day.

In the summer of 2023 I came very close to crossing paths with my mentor in Rome. Those who follow his work know that he is very passionate about the Eternal City. It was my final day in Rome where I had spent two weeks on a work assignment, I was staying in a lovely apartment just steps away from Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Steps). Just below the apartment is Hostaria da Pietro – a simple Italian trattoria with stellar reputation and exceptional cuisine. Every single day that place would fill up for lunch, then again for dinner – it was buzzing with people every time I passed by, I later understood why as I had enjoyed a lovely lunch on one occasion.

On that last day in Rome I was contemplating on where to go for lunch, and the thought of going to Hostaria di Pietro crossed my mind, although the walk was a mere 7 minutes, for some reason I didn’t listen to my intuition and went to another cozy place nearby. The following day back at home in Athens I saw an Instagram post from Robin Sharma – on that same previous day that the thought crossed my mind to go to have lunch at Hostaria di Pietro – my mentor was there enjoying his meal. If I went there, would our paths have crossed? Highly likely, but then again maybe not  – the lesson I learned is that always listen to your intuition. It certainly has something to tell you.

I was disappointed that I missed my chance – but this experience has shown me that life truly does work in miraculous ways, and if you are very clear about what is it that you want, it delivers. In my mind without a doubt one of my goals was to meet my mentor – I didn’t know how or when, but my dream became a reality sooner than I had expected.

In November news came that Robin Sharma was coming to Athens for a special event to be held on January 14th, 2024. Everything conspired for this event to take place and I managed to secure a front row seat and the chance to meet my mentor in person. This was one of my biggest dreams (at least the one I was very clear about), maybe yours is to build a beautiful family or achieve financial abundance. No dream is too big or too small, it is the possibility of having this dream become a reality is what restores ones faith in life and the powers of the Universe.

Have you had any of your dreams come true that restored your faith in the Universe? We would love to hear all about it in the comments below.
